This year, Warwick’s newest collector’s piece is the Corvette “Hot Rod” Ltd. 2005, and it is a beauty! To create this masterpiece, Warwick started with the ever-popular Corvette body style and began adding the custom options. The body is made from premium lightweight swamp ash and topped off with a stunning AAAA grade flame maple top. Between the swamp ash and the flamed maple is a multi-layer veneer of Ekanga, which provides tonal seperation & balance while giving the bass a sleek racing stripe look that runs around the entire body. The neck is crafted from flame maple with a maple fingerboard that features custom planet inlays. For a special touch, Warwick decided to forego their trademark black headstock for a matching flame maple headstock. To top off the cosmetics of this instrument, Warwick added black hardware and a natural satin finish – the satin finish on the ‘Hot Rod’ means you do not need to wax this bass! The motor underneath the hood of the new LTD Warwick ‘Hot Rod’ is something to be admired. The 4-string model comes with 2 sets of active MEC P-style pickups that are powered by an MEC 3-band active preamp. The 5-string version comes with active MEC soapbar pickups and a 3-band MEC active preamp. The combination of the tone woods and the top-of-the-line electronics creates a powerful sound machine that is capable of performing in all genres of music. The ‘Hot Rod’ not only looks great, but also an added surprise comes when you pick it up – it is light! Warwick designed the body with a hollow tone chamber inside, resulting in a more open sound with warmer lows and sweeter highs, not to mention a much lighter bass weight.

The bass is numbered and has been personally signed by Warwick founder Hans Peter Wilfer.
